My good friends Brian & Gwen own and operate Sigh Co. Graphics, a t-shirt company that makes cool clothes for goths, geeks, freaks, and everyone in between. They run everything out of their French Quarter apartment, and all of the shirts are printed by hand. (I even helped out with the printing once, so I know this is true!)
Brian and Gwen are big horror film fans, so there’s a whole section
of their site dedicated to horror-themed designs. There’s also a ton of H.P. Lovecraft shirts, as well as fetish and anime-themed fashions. Some of my personal favorite shirts are the Edgar Allen Poe shirt, the Hamlet tee, and bloodwatch skull t-shirt.
They don’t just do t-shirts though. One of the coolest things they offer is probably the Sigh Co. barware collection, which are high quality drinking glasses that the Drink With The Living Dead artists individually hand-etched some of the Sigh Co. designs onto. I’ve got to admit, my personalized commemorative glass from Convergence XII, which was produced by this team, is my all-time favorite cup to drink out of.
Sigh Co. also created their own “Rebuild NOLA” design soon after returning to New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina (they actually were able to continue to print shirts and run their business out of Dallas for a few months thanks to the generosity of friends). They donate $10 for each of these shirts they sell, which is split between Tipitina’s Artist Relief Fund and the New Orleans Restoration Fund.
I think the majority of my New Orleans friends own at least one Sigh Co. shirt. It seems like everywhere I go around here, I see some random person I’ve never met wearing the skelly t-shirt. There’s a reason Sigh Co.’s stuff is so popular…they’ve got TONS of great designs and everything is high quality because they really care about what they do.
