Etsy Finds – Labor Day edition

papafork motorcycle created from spoons and a pizza cutterPossibly the coolest thing I’ve discovered recently on Etsy is this miniature motorcycle crafted from a pizza cutter and spoons. The Israeli artist Adar Goldfarb, whose Etsy alias is papafork, creates all sorts of unique sculptures out of forks, spoons, and other kitchen cutlery.

His sculptures made almost entirely from recycled utensils include a Swedish chef, robots, birds and even a meditating Buddha. Papafork was recognized for his unique creative vision and chosen as Etsy’s featured seller this past March.

Ichabod's screenprinted Koi messenger bag

I was pleasantly surprised today when I noticed that NOLA-based t-shirt company Ichabod’s is now on Etsy, and preparing to launch their new website this November. I remember that they opened a retail store on Magazine Street just a few months before Hurricane Katrina hit…unfortunately I never got the chance to visit and they weren’t able to reopen at the location after the storm.

Well, now their fun & original designs are available in their Etsy shop, printed on canvas messenger bags and super soft vintage-style t-shirts. The pink motorcycle messenger bag is how I discovered their shop (there I go again, searching for motorcycle related products on Etsy). I also really like the Japanese Koi fish design, although there are so many great designs to choose from, it’s really hard to pick a favorite.

With bags and shirts featuring circus scenes, laughing devils, Day of the Dead, pirate ships, robots, Vespas, and bunny rabbits, Ichabod’s has at least one design to please just about everyone.
