I would certainly have valued some no-nonsense explanations! But finally I just gave it a go and now it's a major part of my online life. My suggestion to people has been to 'just try it' and it will suddenly make complete sense and you'll never look back. My other suggestion is to get a browser like Firefox (or use the latest Safari if you're a Mac user) so you can read feeds right in your browser.
