Morsbags – Sociable Guerilla Bagging

by MissMalaprop on March 8, 2007

boldsmall.jpgI just found out about this and I think it’s a brilliant idea:

The concept behind Morsbags is for people to get together in groups and make reusable shopping bags out of recycled materials (think old curtains or bedsheets) and then distribute them for free to shoppers going into grocery stores.

For one thing I love ideas that bring people together to work for change. I also love the diy, crafty approach that this takes on as well…if supermarkets and lawmakers won’t take steps to get things done, then find a way to do it yourself.

Even if making bags and distributing them isn’t your style, you can still set a positive example by making the change in your own habits. There are plenty of reusable bags around in all shapes and styles. I’ve written about Envirosax previously, but I also really love this bag from BYOB.

I’ve been pretty good about either refusing to take a bag or bringing my own during the past few weeks, and it feels really good. I hope that in some small way it will help to set an example for others.

Great to see you support reuseable bags and to see Morsbags here.
