I’m having a bit of information overload this morning…there’s so many things I want to tell you about!
First up, in case you’re in the New Orleans area, tomorrow afternoon I’ll be set up at Gaiapalooza on Loyola University’s campus (my alma mater). It’s going to be a great Earth Day celebration with live music, food, vendors and more. It’s open to the public, and the fun starts around 3pm and goes until 9pm or so. Please stop by and say hi if you’re so inclined!
Also, I don’t know that I’ve mentioned it here yet, but I’m headed out to San Francisco next month for the Bazaar Bizarre at the Maker Faire – May 19 & 20. I’ll be coming to represent the entire New Orleans Craft Mafia, and I’m super excited! Big thanks to Etsy & thimblescratch for making this possible! (thimblescratch was the 2nd place winner of the Upcycling contest, but couldn’t make it to California for the event and offered the space to me, for which I am eternally thankful! P.S. I’m loving her new EcoLOGICAL series, pictured at right.)
I’ll be spending a few extra days in SF and then I’ll be headed up to Portland the following weekend. If you know of any awesome indie shops I should check out in either city, please let me know!
I’ve been doing some blog browsing this morning. I just stumbled across two amazing posts on Posie Gets Cozy about the process of starting to sell your handmade items to stores. It’s probably old news, as the posts were written in January 2006, but they’re a pretty timeless resource, so if you’re a crafter wanting to get your work into boutiques, I recommend you take a look here and here.
I’m also loving the new fashion blog by Etsy superstar The Black Apple. It’s called Some Girls Wander By Mistake, and it’s just a fun, personal take on her unique style.
Finally, I recently discovered Mintd. Apparently it’s sort of like an Australian cross between lov.li and Etsy. Or something to that extent at least… I signed up for an account a couple of days ago, but I haven’t had much chance to explore yet. Is anyone else using it? Do you like it so far?
