I had a great time this weekend in Brooklyn, where I stayed at the Etsy Labs for the Trashion Street Team‘s trunk show. We had a pretty fab turnout
(over 100 people showed up) and everyone seemed to be having fun. I got to meet and chat with Deb from DIYthing, who is awesome, as well as tons of other fabulous folks.
Etsy employee Lori purchased my black denim choker, which made Etsy’s front page the day of the show! I picked up some goodies myself, including earrings from Tiltcraft, Renee Designs, and Miggipyn. I shared a table with Diane of Miggipyn…it turns out we’re both Mississippi girls, born and raised, though she now lives in Brooklyn. I hung out with Diane and some other new friends after the show at a fab bar called Barcade…it’s a microbrewery meets vintage arcade!
To celebrate my birthday on Saturday I headed into the city to check out MOMA (and thanks to my job at the Louisiana State Museum, I was able to get in for free!). I did learn one thing though…never fly out of JFK on a Sunday morning! The terminal was a nightmare! Luckily I made my flight on time, but at some point I think I must have pulled a muscle in my neck…I’ve been feeling pretty under the weather ever since. I’m trying to take it easy and feel better, but I just wanted to give everyone a quick update.
The Etsy Labs team posted some pictures from the show in their Flickr stream, and there’s also an update in the Etsy Trashion blog.

Mallory, I always follow your blog to keep up on the indie scene – and it was great to meet you in person. Nice to see people from back home in Louisiana.
