Carnival of the Green # 90

by MissMalaprop on August 13, 2007

Long ago I signed up to host the Carnival of the Green this week, in celebration of the first anniversary of MissMalaprop (my first real post was a year ago today). Without further ado, here’s the round-up of the past week’s posts from around the green blogosphere:

Eco Issues
Mark Powell tackles the issue of controversial ocean wildlife refuges in California, and thinks “the time has come for wider use of this common sense solution to chronic overfishing”. Louise Manning examines your Water footprint revisited over at The Human Imprint, while Vihar Sheth looks at the issue of Sustainable Sports posted at green | rising, and Mike Bergin at 10,000 Birds argues to Protect the Commons.

Judy Kingsbury of Savvy Vegetarian takes on another weighty issue in her post Poverty, Hunger, and the Environment by asking, “Do poor people care less about environmental protection than those who are better off economically?” David at The Good Human questions something many eco-friendly folks have to deal with, in his post “Do People Get Angry When You Try To Tell Them About Going Green?”

Green Your Home & Office
Frugal Panda shows you How to Save Money with Xeriscaping (aka dry landscaping), while over at Green Options, Tiffany gives you the scoop on how to Clean Green for Safety & Health. Bootstrapper recommends 50 Tips To Reduce Your Office’s Waste, and GP asks “what if you are environmently concerned and are a runner?” and gives some tips on Running on Green.

Shopping Green
Tiffany Washko presents My Thoughts on Green Consumerism posted at Natural Family Living Blog, and Alex Ho compares Paper vs. Styrofoam vs. Plastic Cups to find out which is greener. Headed back to school? Check out EcoStreet for Tracy’s green “Back To School” guide.

For more Carnival of the Green goodness, check out last week’s carnival or tune into Green Options on August 20th for the next carnival.

Heh.. I just saw you on treehugger.com.. I was like “Miss Malaprop??” How many of those can there be? Congratulations to you and your anniversary..

P.S. I’m working to totally green my footprints on this planet with CFLs and http://www.phoenixrecyclingnola.com/.

P.P.S. The state of Louisiana just passed a law last month that will give you a tax credit or a check within a year for 50% of your alternative energy equipmen up to $25,000. And since we have net meter legislation, your local utilities are required to buy back your energy at the going rate.

Peace,
Joe
