Halloween is less than a week and a half away, and I’m still stuck for costume ideas. Part of the problem is that I need more than one… Halloween is practically a week-long affair in these parts. There’s a “Zombie Prom” happening tomorrow night and then all weekend long there will be spooky festivities, not to mention the big day itself.
My other problem is I had a costume I was planning on making but I hadn’t bought some of the pieces to make it yet… then my banking catastrophe happened last week. (Luckily the bank has promised to reverse all of the charges that weren’t mine, but it still hasn’t been cleared up yet.)
If you’re stuck for last minute costume ideas like I am, you might want to pop over to Threadbanger. Rob and Corinne have been doing a special series called Halloweeny Wednesdays where they show you how to make some awesome DIY Halloween costumes on a budget. They’ll teach you how to make a mummy costume, a pirate costume, and fairy wings by recycling stuff you probably have lying around the house (or could easily find at a thrift store).
Speaking of DIY costumes, have you checked out Etsy’s Halloween costume contest? There’s a bunch of different categories to participate in and a lot of cool prizes up for grabs. I wanted to participate, but my costuming brain has turned to jelly. Maybe I’ll come up with something really awesome at the last minute!
