Wow, so it’s been a whole week since I last posted. Blame it on Halloween weekend, which has been pretty crazy around here with work (today is my only day off in the middle of a stretch of almost a week and a half) plus tons of friends back in town for the weekend. It’s been really great to see so many close friends all back in one place at the same time. Hurricane Katrina forced a bunch of my friends to move to other parts of the country, so now I rarely get to see them. I’ve been especially happy that my best bud Ashe, aka Miss Mischief, got to come down for the weekend…we hadn’t seen each other in almost a year and a half!
Having lived through that natural disaster, I can really empathize with what so many people across Southern California have been dealing with during the last few weeks. Marie of Marimello is a native of So Cal and many of her family members and friends have been evacuated from their homes because of the recent blaze. She’s set up a special blog where she’s raffling off donated handmade goods and an Etsy shop called witchfire to raise money to help those affected by the fires. All proceeds will benefit Volunteer San Diego and the Wild Animal Park. Marie also has links to other non-profits around San Diego in the blog if you want to help by making a direct donation.

Thanks for spreading the good word! I have a bunch more stories to post today, too. Everybody knows somebody you know?
