@The Modern Gal - The way I understand it is that Brighter Planet is paying for the gift offsets (which would explain why there is a limited number).  I got the notice about these gift offsets through them as my credit card is through Brighter Planet.  Their credit card works like a lot of points cards do, except that for every dollar spent it goes towards a certain amount of offsets.  They partner with Native Energy to do the offsets (they work on setting up new alternative power projects). Something for us all to think about re: conservation:  if I&#039;m doing the math right, it would take 154 trees to absorb one short ton of carbon dioxide.
