We got home from Barkus, the dog Mardi Gras parade, a couple of hours ago, and boy are we exhausted! It was so much fun though! The theme this year was BatMutt, The Bark Knight, and our dog Molly went as Harley Quinn (per Miss Mischief’s suggestion) in a costume made by yours truly. It’s pretty spot on if I do say so myself, though a group of kids were the only people to recognize it!
This was our first year participating, although last year my boyfriend filmed the Barkus parade for Current TV. It was great to see so many happy dogs and people. And I love that Barkus raises so much money and awareness for ARNO: Animal Rescue New Orleans. The costumes were pretty fantastic too — these guys were my favorites (the dog had little bagpipes attached to his collar!):
