Eco-friendly Mattresses and Pillows from Keetsa

eco-friendly bamboo sheets from Keetsa - green mattresses and beddingI just noticed that Keetsa, the eco-friendly mattress and green bedding store, also carries bamboo sheets. I love, love, love bamboo fabric, not only because it’s very sustainable, but also because it’s super duper soft and amazing. And apparently it’s also naturally antibacterial, which is a great advantage if you’re sleeping on it for 8+ hours every day. I would LOVE a set of bamboo sheets.

Keetsa offers a full array of different eco-friendly mattresses, pillows, mattress toppers, and more. The memory foams they use in their mattresses and toppers are free of VOCs and formaldehyde and are made from a material they call Bio-foam™, which is made from 12% natural castor bean oil, instead of 100% petroleum like most memory foams currently on the market. Some of their mattress products feature an all natural latex rubber core instead.

Keetsa creates their mattresses to outlast other major brands, and they provide a 20 year warranty because they don’t want cheaply made mattresses ending up in our landfills. They also design them so they don’t need a box spring, as that is seen as another wasteful element of traditional bedding. (Not to mention box springs are a pain in the butt to move!)

Keetsa has designed a very clever shipping process — all of their mattresses can be compressed for shipping, so that they take up less room, and thus have a lower carbon footprint on the journey from their store to your house. You can check out this video to see a real life example of unpacking one of these mattresses:

They offer recycling information on their website so you can recycle your old mattress when purchasing a new one. Keetsa also has GREAT reviews from customers who have shopped at their San Francisco store. I know that next time a new mattress is in the works for us, I’ll definitely be looking into Keetsa.

Leslie, somehow I didn’t even notice that they offer free shipping, but that’s fantastic! Yet another reason to love them!

Weak. Lets read in-between the lines they gave you.
First – these Keetsa mattresses are made in China and are nearly 90% petrochemicals that are incredibly unhealthy no matter what else they use or dont use. Second – Did you see all the plastic used in the packaging??? Small Carbon footprint? From China and shrinkwrapped in tons of plastic in China in God knows what kind of factory before being shipped across the ocean to here??? Thats a low carbon footprint why??
Keetsa = great marketing of unhealthy toxic mattresses!

John, compared to most of the other alternatives, this still seems like a step up. Most of the other major mattress brands on the market are probably made in China as well, and they’re NOT shipping their products in a space saving way and NOT trying to reduce the amount of chemicals used in their products. Change has to start somewhere, I don’t expect anything to be perfect on the first go.

There are sooo many truly ECO options out there. Type in natural mattress and behold! Natural means Eco. Eco does not always mean healthy for the environment ;-)
