If you’re a regular reader, you already know how much I love TOMS shoes and everything they stand for. Well, they just launched a new collaborative project with Element Skateboards that I think is pretty amazing.
TOMS Shoes Founder Blake Mycoskie and Element founder Johnny Schillereff have teamed up to help children around the world by giving shoes and skateboards using the TOMS One for One model. Their first collaborative effort will provide shoes for children (to protect their feet from disease) as well as skateboards to kids in Durban, South Africa, one of the world’s most dangerous cities.
Element has already given significant contributions to the Indigo Skate Camp, which is a safe haven in Durban for children and provides an alternative to their daily life on the streets. Since its launch in 2006, TOMS has given over 130,000 pairs of shoes to children in Argentina, South Africa, Ethiopia and the USA.
A limited edition collection of TOMS shoes is available as part of this project, and if you’re a skateboarder, there is a TOMS cruiser and deck available as well. Just go to their website to view all the available styles.
While I’ve already mentioned how much I love their vegan boots, I’ve got to admit, their “…be the change…” shoes are growing on me as well. I’m trying to resist ordering a pair…
