Eco-Friendly Fashion at 50% Off – Toggery by Kate D’Arcy

by MissMalaprop on March 17, 2009

I just found out about fashion designer Kate D’Arcy and her eco-friendly collection of tops and dresses called Toggery. The line was launched in the fall of 2007 and features solid-colored modern basics created from certified organic cotton, bamboo, and modal (made from recycled beechwood). Not only is it eco-friendly and infinitely wearable, it’s also made in the USA, in a vertical manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania near where Kate grew up.

Kate is a former personal shopper and stylist who wanted to create basic pieces that are both affordable and sustainable. And they don’t get much more affordable than right now, because everything in the Toggery collection is currently 50% off through March 31st at LuxGreenLiving.com! (Almost everything is in the $20-$40 range right now — it’s the perfect time for a little splurge.)

There’s a lot of stuff I’m really in love with here. And I’m seriously trying to resist the urge to splurge myself, because there are truly so many great basic pieces. Here are a couple of my favorites:

I love this little bolero jacket made from 100% Organic Supima Cotton Fleece. My co-worker has something similar that I seriously covet everytime she wears it. It’s the perfect little cover-up for spring or fall. And right now it’s only $40.

This sleeveless top is one of the pieces that I like the most and could see myself wearing often, especially during the summer. It’s made from 100% Organic Supima Cotton and comes in lots of different colors. On sale at $29 for a piece as versatile as this, I’m seriously considering ordering myself one.
