Handmade Hair Accessories

by MissMalaprop on March 25, 2009

I just finished up my Antigravity Magazine shopping column for April’s issue the other day, and since it was all about local artist Ann Marie Popko and her awesome handmade hair accessories, it’s got me thinking a lot about fun things for your hair. (It could also be that I’m in need of a hair cut and my hair keeps getting in my face lately…) I thought I’d round up a little list of some of the cute things for your hair that have been catching my eye in recent weeks:

Lovely Lady Hat, Purple Feather Cocktail Fascinator Hat with Sequins by Ann Marie Popko

I like these fun Dr. Seuss style feather cocktail hats by the aforementioned Ann Marie Popko. For some reason the thought of wearing one of these makes me want to dance around on my tippy-toes! $60 at superduper.etsy.com

My dear friend and best bud Miss Ashe Mischief has been both making her own awesome hair pieces and writing about those made by others on her blog dramatis personae recently. Her post Fun with Fascinators is chock full of tons of great accessories for dressing up your hair. Her most recent Etsy find, Bubbles & Frown, is just amazing! I love this gorgeous little top hat:

Leslie from Feisty Elle always has beautiful bobby pins and hair clips, including her wonderful Japanese-inspired pinwheel hair clips, and she’s got some new pieces out now. I like the new laser-cut merino wool brooches that double as hair clips a lot, but the pinwheels still steal my heart!

Oh, and if you’re looking for handmade hair accessories for the little ones, Kiley from Cherry Blossoms has got you covered! She makes adorable headbands, clips and hats for children and infants. Seriously, I’m not a kid person, but even I can admit that this hydrangea headband is super cute!

It is definitely the season for hair pieces! Something about spring just makes me want to adorn my hair with flowers and lace and bright vibrant pieces!

Aren’t the pieces at Bubbles & Frown amazing? I’ve been drooling hard core over those pretty pieces!
