I’m one of those girls that never really learned how to do cool stuff with my hair. Braid it myself? That is WAY too complicated for my uncoordinated self. But cute handmade hair accessories? Those I can easily put on and go! So of course over the years I’ve found myself making quite a few varieties, and now I carry other handmade hair accessories by talented artists in my shop.
These fleur de lis barrettes were one of the first types of hair accessories I ever made. Here in New Orleans, we love the fleur de lis, and the shape fits on a barrette back perfectly!
Next, I started making these flower shaped barrettes out of recycled fabrics like denim and lace, and using buttons. (And sometimes even recycled bottlecaps!)
My friend Tressa of Flambeaux Design Company makes these beautiful poppy flower hair pins out of hand-sculpted polymer clay! Aren’t they cute??
I also work with New Orleans based artist Kaci Thomassie, who creates these adorable fiber art headbands made from recycled scrap fabric. I LOVE Kaci’s work!
I recently started making these cute and colorful flower barrettes as well. They’re so much fun to wear!
