This coming Saturday, I’ll be participating in a brand new alternative art and cultural event here in New Orleans. It’s the JAJO Expo (that stands for January, April, July and October — when they’ll be happening) and it’s organized by my friend Summer from Isoism. Summer designs cool shirts and things like this one:
Summer modeled the JAJO Expo after Antigravity Magazine’s yearly Alternative Media Expo. There will be artists, crafters, hair stylists and more there, and I’ll be setting up shop with handmade goodies from myself and others, including embroidery kits and patterns from Sublime Stitching! The New Orleans Craft Mafia’s newest member, the lovely Emily of Sweet Olive Soap Works, will also be there selling her amazing soaps!
If you want to check it out, the event takes place this Saturday, July 25 at Zeitgeist Multidisciplinary Art Center (1618 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd). Doors will be open for customers from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm and admission is $5. You can find out more and RSVP at the Facebook event page!
The amazing Etsy Trashion Team is having a summertime sale and giveaway to promote environmental awareness and the art of recycling. It’s one week only: July 20 – 27. You can get great deals on cool recycled art, like these vintage recycled fabric quilt coasters from rikrak:
You may remember I traveled to the Etsy Labs in NYC a couple of years ago for a Trashion team trunk show there. While I don’t currently have the time to actively participate in the group’s efforts, I still wholeheartedly support everything they do, and I hope you will too! Check out more details on the great deals and discounts you can get from participating members this week, and find out how to enter their giveaway on the Etsy Trashion blog.
