Go Green, Go Back To School

by MissMalaprop on August 6, 2009

I can’t believe it’s already back to school time! Some of the schools here in New Orleans started the new school year today. Sometimes I miss the rush of excitement of a new school year… picking out school supplies and signing up for new classes.

One Small Step is an online boutique founded last year by Renata Bodon that specializes in eco-friendly lunch kits and school supplies. When her daughter entered a school that required waste-free lunches, she found it difficult to find safe and high-quality reusable lunch ware, so she started One Small Step to provide plenty of waste-free lunch alternatives as well as eco-friendly school supplies and more.

One Small Step Waste Free Lunch KitThere are so many great lunch options here, for both kids and adults. Food containers, bottles, lunch bags, utensils… you name it. One Small Step is careful to stock only lunch supplies that are safe and non-toxic and contain no lead, BPA, Phthalates, or PVC.

I know there are a couple of my co-workers that could really use some reusable lunch gear (it breaks my heart to see all of the Styrofoam containers they go through on a weekly basis). One Small Step also has some great eco-friendly school supply sets to make shopping easy.

For more of my back to school picks, check out the new issue of Style Sample Magazine… I’ve got a couple of picks featured in the “Hot For Teacher” section on page 10, which was edited by my best bud, Ashe Mischief.

I am loving on the Style Sample Magazine that you posted a link to. Is that something I can buy in the stores or is it just online?

Leslie, I totally missed that section the first time I looked at the site. You’re right, it is pretty amazing!

Lauren, I don’t think you can find Style Sample in stores, but you should be able to order a printed version soon via MagCloud.
