Copycat Sues Original Artist John T. Unger

37 inch Great Bowl O' Fire recycled steel firebowl

Holy crap, this is absolutely infuriating to read about… Artist John T. Unger has been designing these amazing firepits that are handcrafted from 100% recycled propane tanks since 2005. Now not only is his work being ripped off by FirePitArt.com, LLC and owner Rick Wittrig, but Wittrig actually has the gumption to sue Unger who owns the copyright to his own original creations. Unger has already spent over $50,000 working to defend himself in court… it sounds like Wittrig is essentially trying to win a battle of budgets and get Unger to give up the fight, since it’s unlikely Wittrig will actually win if this goes all the way through the courts.

Unger is currently offering sale prices on his most popular firebowl designs in order to help raise more funds for his legal defense. These pieces are absolutely beautiful, so if you’re thinking about splurging on a holiday gift for the whole family, these firebowls made by the original artist, John T. Unger, would be a great option.

Find out more about the situation and how you can help at Unger’s website.

That is OUTRAGEOUS!! I’m so sad for him, to have to deal with that crap…
