In keeping with the holiday spirit and keeping your dollars in your community, I thought I’d do a little spotlight on two of my favorite (and newest!) local New Orleans shopping destinations.
Skip N’ Whistle is located at 8123 Oak Street and it’s run by my friend Chris Reams and his girlfriend Anne. Chris also does Ichabod’s, a great line of graphic tees, including their newest Saints inspired gear.
In addition to their own t-shirt like, Skip N’ Whistle also carries a great mixture of new and vintage clothing for both guys and girls, along with local jewelry and art. I love the vibe of their shop.
Branch Out is a new eco-conscious boutique that opened in September at 2022 Magazine Street. (That’s the same block as Juan’s Flying Burrito and Trashy Diva for you locals.)
Lauren Beshel and Thiri DeVoe have teamed up to bring New Orleans some of my favorite eco-clothing brands along with a carefully curated mix of vintage clothing and accessories. They’re stocking a lot of the lines I’ve written about in the past, including She-Bible, Toggery and Prairie Underground.

Branch Out is really cute and their prices are pretty good. I’ve been meaning to go to Skip & Whistle forever but I’m not in that neck of the woods very often.
Yay! Thanks for the write up and good press! I’m glad you liked the selection of eco-Brands (I wish we would have had more of the Pairie Underground you liked).
Thank you so much again for the mention! And the nice comments!
Lauren, you’re very welcome!
