I’ve added a few new lines to the shop in the past few days. I’ve written about REpurposingNOLA here before, and now I have a few one-of-a-kind upcycled pieces in the shop: REpurposingNOLA recycled burlap pillow & recycled burlap messenger bag. I’ve also picked up some small scrap fabric from REpurposingNOLA founder Traci, which I’ve been playing around with on my sewing machine. I’ve got some new collaborative products in the works – we’re trying to keep as much of this material out of the landfill as possible!
I also just added some great eco-friendly crochet accessories to the shop last night, made by Tickled Pink Knits. Elena of Tickled Pink Knits makes her hand-knit and crocheted necklaces, bracelets, and accessories from 100% certified organic fair-trade cotton yarn. Isn’t her work lovely? I’ve still got a bunch of stuff that I’m in the process of adding to the shop, so look for lots of new additions coming soon!
I’ve also been busy with the New Orleans Craft Mafia, planning our 5th birthday party! Our celebration is slated for Thursday, June 24, from 6pm – 10pm at The Factory, a new crafty workspace at 8314 Oak Street, run by my friend Chris of Skip N’ Whistle & Ichabod’s. Chris will begin teaching screen-printing classes at The Factory on July 7.
Our party will be free and open to all ages, and will feature free craft workshops, including t-shirt recycling and screen-printing. We’ll also have a crafty marketplace, music, snacks and free beer. (While it lasts!) The first 20 guests will receive a free New Orleans Craft Mafia tote bag filled with handmade goodies! Check out the Facebook event invite, and pass it along to your friends!
