dismantled designs - original reconstructed clothing and accessories

My current creations are available via

my online store.

dismantled designs began in 2004, after arriving home from a study abroad program in London where I saw the amazing artists at Portobello Market and where I was inspired to begin selling my own reconstructed clothing & accessories.

dismantled is a collection of one-of-a-kind, handmade original clothing and accessory designs. Most dismantled garments are made from used or vintage clothing, or remnant fabrics and trims. Each piece is meant to have a slightly unfinished, rough-hewn, well-loved look about it.

I have created everything from reconstructed denim skirts and cozy neckwarmers to outfits made from recycled FEMA blue tarp. My first blue tarp creation was featured in a fundraiser fashion show here in New Orleans in 2006 to raise money for the America’s Wetland Foundation.

My second blue tarp creation garnered 3rd place in Etsy’s Upcycling Contest in 2007 and allowed me to travel to San Francisco to represent myself along with the New Orleans Craft Mafia at the Bazaar Bizarre as part of the Maker Faire. I have also participated in numerous costume bazaars, fashion sales and indie craft shows around New Orleans.

I also garnered an honorable mention at the WORN AGAIN recycled fashion show in 2008 for this outfit, made from a XXL puffy winter vest and a bunch of white mattress batting!

WORN AGAIN

I also received an honorable mention for my creation for the 2009 Worn Again fashion show… a tribute to the amazing Mardi Gras Indians here in New Orleans. Here’s my outfit in action:
