Bento Box Ideas We Love

The following is a guest post by my sister, Melissa.

I love bento boxes. Or at least the idea of bento boxes. Having never actually made one myself, I’m not sure I’d love making them. But the organization melded with creativity and a well-balanced meal appeals to me. These are the bento box ideas I covet. For one day I shall make bento boxes for my children.

One way or another, I love these accessories, like these adorable condiment containers, so your sauce doesn’t make your bread soggy.

These silicone baking cups are super versatile. They’re awesome for partitioning your food in the bento box. But you can also use them when you’re playing boardgames, trying to keep dice or bits separated. Really, they’re great for anything where you have lots of tiny things. Beading, children’s crafts, measuring ingredients while baking. So useful.

You know all those flowers and animals and stars that are in every bento picture on the internet? No one actually cuts out those adorable panda faces with just a knife, so here are some of the cute animal shaped food cutters you’ll need to make them. They’re perfect for making cute little panda-shaped sandwiches for your kids to take to lunch!

I absolutely love Totoro! So of course I’d love this Totoro Bento Lunch Box for my little one! There’s a Kiki’s Delivery Service one too, fyi. Speaking of Kiki’s Delivery Service, you’ll need utensils for your lunch.

If you’d like a stylish bento box, however, this Sakura lunchbox is so sweet. But who are we kidding? Adorable is awesome. Oh my goodness that samurai! This Kotobuki Samurai Warrior Bento Set is just too cute!

If you have no idea how to go about beginning on this journey to cute lunches, you’ll need a guide to get you started. Yum-Yum Bento Box: Fresh Recipes for Adorable Lunches has kid-friendly recipes and straight-forward tutorials. Or this guide, The Just Bento Cookbook: Everyday Lunches To Go, walks you through great, healthier recipes for your bento lunch. The recipes here look delicious, but more grown up. Perfect for a healthy lunch to take to the office!

These bento box ideas are proof positive that there are loads of cute accessories out there for your new hobby. Now get out there and explore – be sure to check out our bento box ideas board on Pinterest for more inspiration!
