NOCM in the Gambit

Posted by MissMalaprop on May 5th, 2008

Check it out, the New Orleans Craft Mafia made the cover of this week’s Gambit Weekly. (That’s the weekly free alternative mag here in NOLA.) There’s a picture of me and NOCM founder Rachelle and overall it’s a pretty fabulous piece of press!

What’s ur Bag eco-friendly reusable shopping bags

Posted by MissMalaprop on May 4th, 2008

I just found out about this great company who makes reusable shopping bags and manufactures them entirely in New Orleans.
They also employed a New Orleanian for their web designer and they donate five percent of all their profits to a New Orleans charity.
They sent in some info to Styledash and I just posted about them […]

Curious Tribe

Posted by MissMalaprop on April 28th, 2008

I had the pleasure of meeting some of the folks from Curious Tribe waaayyy back during the Antigravity Expo in February. I just now got around to finally checking out their site. Why did I wait so long?? (The answer of course is that I’m insanely busy, but that’s no good excuse.)
The […]

Latest News from MissMalaprop

Posted by MissMalaprop on April 27th, 2008

Long time no post, eh? I’ve been staying pretty busy, as usual, these days. A full-time job and writing for multiple blogs and a monthly magazine column and running dismantled and being a member of the New Orleans Craft Mafia and trying to maintain some semblance of a social life sure is a […]

100 Great Etsy Artists & DIY Recycling

Posted by MissMalaprop on March 21st, 2008

I realize I haven’t been posting very much lately. I’ve been busy with my new job and it’s that wonderful time of year here in New Orleans where the weather has warmed up but it’s not stupidly hot yet and all I want to do everyday is sit outside and read. And make […]

NOLA Rising

Posted by MissMalaprop on February 26th, 2008

I had a great time at the Alternative Media Expo on Saturday (despite the fact that my car died and we had to have it towed to a repair shop afterwards). One of my favorite things at this year’s event was a new t-shirt design by Dirty Coast that was setting the Expo abuzz. […]

Alt Media Expo this Saturday!

Posted by MissMalaprop on February 21st, 2008

The Alternative Media Expo is the cover story of this week’s Gambit Weekly (our local weekly news & culture mag here in NOLA). I’m so proud of Leo, founder of the Expo and Antigravity Magazine! I’m also very excited because this event is shaping up to be BIG and not to be missed! […]

Preservation Hall Jazz Band Video Valentine

Posted by MissMalaprop on February 15th, 2008

A day late, but after expressing my love for this city yesterday, I just had to share:
“I Can’t Give You Anything But Love” - A Preservation Hall Jazz Band and New Orleans Bingo! Show video Valentine, as sung by Clint Maedgen, with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Featuring Fleur de Tease, The Camel Toe Lady-Steppers […]

Fleur De Lis Soaps

Posted by MissMalaprop on February 14th, 2008

Valentine’s Day is all about the love, right? This afternoon on my way home after work I was walking through the French Quarter and thinking about all of the things I love about this city. (Even though this weekend the Quarter is going to be crazy with the NBA All-Star game and festivities […]

Alternative Media Expo 2008

Posted by MissMalaprop on February 8th, 2008

Now that Mardi Gras is over, I can concentrate more on the local alternative craft scene again. First up, this Sunday I’ll be doing the Crescent City Craft Market with the rest of the New Orleans Craft Mafia, plus some great guest vendors.
We’ll be back to our monthly schedule now that Carnival is over, […]
