I woke up this morning to a phone call letting me know that someone had gotten my debit card info and now my checking account is overdrawn and a lot of money is gone. Brilliant. A couple of days ago I booked a hotel online for next month so I can check out Stitch in Austin. Little did I know that I’d also be making a ton of purchases and withdrawals in Bangkok as well. Unfortunately I’ve never been to Thailand and someone else is having lots of fun at my expense. C’est la vie. So I’m spending the day trying to get this straightened out.

Anyway, I decided now might be a good time to have a little sale in my Etsy shop. So if you’ve been eyeing anything, now is a great time to buy, because everything is 20% off the listed price through October 31st. Just enter the code LIFESUCKS in the notes to seller at checkout and wait for an updated invoice.

oh no! i’m sorry to hear :( did they tell you how these people manage to get your card number? this is scary. all the best for your sale! :)

I made an online transaction at Hotels.com and everything follows after that, so that seems to be the source. I always check to make sure I’m on a secure page when doing online shopping, but my mom said how she’d seen a news program about how online travel sites have the worst rates of having their data stolen. :(

Oh non c’est vraiment triste!! :(
Wow, travel transaction sites freak me out now! Good thing I don’t have funds to travel, I guess… :(
Hope everything is going to be better for you in a near future! :)

you’re not gonna believe this. my card got charged in Italy (and i was nowhere near there) on 12 Oct. i didn’t even realise it until my bank texted me about a suspicious transaction! And I thought the text message was suspicious instead cos they’d normally call me, right? LOL.

Wow, that’s crazy. It’s pretty scary… you can be super careful and still have things like that happen. I’m sorry to hear something similar happened to you too. :(

i hope your bank refunds you! mine said they would. i mightn’t have been aware until my bank contacted me :) how silly.

I checked my account yesterday and they’ve already credited it with all of the money that was stolen, thank goodness!

Something to say?
