    Eco-Friendly Wedding Options

    Ideal Bite has been dedicating this week to talking about green weddings, in honor of Valentine’s Day. I was really happy that in yesterday’s tip, which was about eco-friendly wedding dress options, they mentioned Faernyn’s Grove.

    luminex bridal gown by Faernyn's GroveI got a chance to work with Rene Geneva, the designer behind Faernyn’s Grove, last spring when I was running the fashion shows for Convergence 12. She is possibly one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met, and I truly respect her work.

    One of the pieces that she showcased in the fashion show, which created a spectacular grand finale, was a fiber optic wedding gown. As the stage lights faded, the model wearing the gown made a big impression on the crowd in her light up dress. How amazing for an outdoor, evening wedding would this gown be?

    Great post! I had a very eco-friendly wedding when I got married in 2005. We only invited our parents and about twenty friends (and a Hawaiian slack-key guitarist, of course).

    Everyone showed up at the Berkeley Marina park, and we got married in about 15 minutes. A flash-wedding of sorts. My husband slipped my Moisannite (not diamond!) wedding ring on my finger, then we all went out for vegan food. Eco-friendly, low stress. It was perfect.

    Younger couples are opting for donations to a charity in lieu of wedding favors which most wedding couples do not find very useful. I encourage my clients who are looking for wedding decor to rent items instead of purchasing which is a win win situation for the environment and their budget.

    I am a bit ashamed to be posting this, but I wanted to write briefly exactly how my wedding went. My dress was made out of silk and satin: It wasn’t so eco-friendly. As far as my husband’s tuxedo, he had a traditional tails with dark blue bow tie and vest. If I could change it now, I would. However, my brother has been engaged for 5 months. I already forwarded the link over to her e-mail, so I hope she will grasp the concept and make a statement as well. She is very much into significant causes and this is no exception.
