Handmade Hair Accessories

Cool Stuff

I’m one of those girls that never really learned how to do cool stuff with my hair. Braid it myself? That is WAY too complicated for my uncoordinated self. But cute handmade hair accessories? Those I can easily put on and go! So of course over the years I’ve found myself making quite a few varieties:

Fleur De Lis Barrette - handmade hair accessory

These fleur de lis barrettes were one of the first types of hair accessories I ever made. Here in New Orleans, we love the fleur de lis, and the shape fits on a barrette back perfectly!

Recycled Fabric Flower Hair Clip

Next, I started making these flower shaped barrettes out of recycled fabrics like denim and lace, and using buttons. (And sometimes even recycled bottlecaps!)

Handmade Poppy Flower Bobby Pin

My friend Tressa of Flambeaux Design Company makes these beautiful poppy flower hair pins out of hand-sculpted polymer clay! Aren’t they cute??

Anchor Handmade Headband

Recycled Fiber Art Headband

Owl Handmade Headband

I also work with New Orleans based artist Kaci Thomassie, who creates these adorable fiber art headbands made from recycled scrap fabric. I LOVE Kaci’s work!

Cute Handmade Flower Barrettes

I recently started making these cute and colorful flower barrettes as well. They’re so much fun to wear!
