I just discovered that yet another amazing indie craft superstar lives nearby in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. There’s so much amazing talent here in South Louisiana!

My new Baton Rouge-based indie craft find is Supermaggie, who were recently seen at both Renegade Craft Fairs in Brooklyn and Chicago. The Supermaggie team is composed of Maggie & Michael. Supermaggie carries an array of unique screenprinted clothing, handmade scarves, flower pins, wallets, journals & notebooks, and adorable stuffed creatures, as well as paintings by Maggie. They also offer gift certificates, which could be the perfect holiday gift for your indie-loving friends. (Or might I suggest my personal favorite, the Octopus and Waves shirt?)

Little Ghost Designs Phoenix EarringsDay-Lab is another independent online boutique based in Baton Rouge and run by designer Amy Shutt. Day-Lab offers some of Amy’s own creations, including jewelry like these Phoenix Earrings by Little Ghost Designs, a collaborative project by Amy and her friend Ryan Baudoin.

Day-Lab also carries an assortment of jewelry, house wares, t-shirts, bags, accessories, paper goods, and even toys by tons of other independent artists and designers. One of my favorite Christmas presents from last year actually came from Day-Lab, a now discontinued octopus necklace.

You can also feel good about shopping at Day-Lab because each month Amy donates a percentage of her profits to the World Society for the Protection of Animals.
