We’ve become sort of poker obsessed around my house. I blame my boyfriend. First he started watching Celebrity Poker on Bravo about a year and a half ago. Then I started watching it. Then we started a small home game at our house every couple of weeks. More recently that home game has become weekly and we now have a special poker table and everything. Oh. And the boy even has his own poker blog, Poker Penguin.
Lately I’ve been taking some inspiration from Lis Kidder and I’ve been using a fused glass pendant I have from Unique Products as a makeshift card protector. While my pendant does the trick, I love all of the beautiful dichroic glass card protectors that Lis has in her shop. It makes me feel all fancy to have something with some weight and shimmer to stick on top of my cards while I’m betting. (I also really love her Queen of Hearts pendant…which I’ll bet would double nicely as a card protector.)
Even if you could care less about poker, Lis has plenty of really beautiful pendants, earrings and other accessories in her shop. Lis is a pretty busy lady — in addition to running her Etsy shop, she’s also the founder of the recent social networking phenomenon We Love Etsy. If you haven’t joined already, you should definitely do so…it’s lots of fun! Here’s a link to my profile there, if you’re so inclined to add me.

[...] Shortly after I mentioned the We Love Etsy social network the other day, I found out about a new Etsy Shops Directory, also by We Love Etsy. Over 800 unique Etsy shops have been added to the directory already, and more are being added every day. This new directory is cool because it organizes the shops by category (think jewelry, clothing, or repurposed items) and it also breaks those categories down even further (built-from-scratch clothing, t-shirts, lingerie, etc.). Etsy currently lets you shop for items by category but it’s a little trickier to search for entire shops by category, so this new directory is pretty helpful. (Etsy is currently working on revamping the way their categories work, to make things easier, but they’ve announced this won’t go into affect until after the holidays.) Possibly the most fun feature is the Visit Random Shop link… click it, because you never know what you might discover! [...]
