Picked By You! is back! It’s been awhile, but if you want to see more posts like this one, all you have to do is let me know your Picks! Details at the bottom of this post.

This Pick comes via Facebook from Jennifer Schmidt. She tells me, “I really like the creative work done by the Etsy seller, WanderingLydia. She’s making some incredible felted hats of recycled fabrics. I haven’t seen anything like them before!”
Be sure to check out Jennifer’s own blog and Etsy shop, Red Rhino, for some fun handmade lingerie, garter belts and more, just in time for Valentine’s Day! I like this fun and sexy photo shoot she did for her Red Bandana A-Line Apron!

Do you have an amazing handmade or eco-friendly shopping find (made by someone other than yourself)? Send it my way! You can email me a link to the item, one or two sentences about why you think it is so special, plus your name and a website/blog link so I can credit you, to mallory [AT] missmalaprop.com and let me know it’s for Picked By You!, or you can post your picks in this thread in the Etsy forums or at my Facebook fan page. Designers, while I definitely encourage you to let me know about your own work as well, please note that Picked By You! is to showcase the work of other artists, so show some love for your favorite fellow artisans!

It’s been quite awhile since I’ve done a Picked By You! feature. If you like this series and want to see more, please send me your picks! Details on how to contribute are at the bottom of this post.

Ola, aka Musicboxgirl, recently purchased this FreeForm Crochet halter from WildChildDzigns on Artfire. She says, “having never purchased crotchet clothing before, I just bought a beautiful halter from WildChildDzigns. It’s like an abstract painting, to me, and I get to wear it. It also looks comfy.”
Ola makes musical jewelry and accessories inspired by her love of antique-style music boxes. Check out her work at My Secret Music Box, or learn more about her at her blog, Plucked Pins.

I realized recently that I haven’ted done a Picked By You! feature in awhile. C’mon and send me your favorite picks by your favorite indie artists and designers! I love seeing what you choose – I always end up discovering some new-to-me designers this way!

Jaya from Green Trunk Clothing submitted her Mother-in-laws’ shop of home decor items made from vintage textiles. Jaya says, “She just opened her shop Vintage Linen Rose a few weeks ago and could use some exposure. She makes lovely items out of vintage linens.” I have to agree with Jaya, and I think that this set of three Storybook Pillows made from a vintage dresser set of runners is just beautiful. I also love this set of decorative balls made from vintage linens. These pieces make me think of Anne of Green Gables or some Victorian fairy tale! So pretty!

Picked By You! is back! Below you’ll find some great handmade goods recommended by you, the readers!

This handmade Extra Slouchy Beret in Lemon was crocheted by Softspoken and recommended by MariaHug (who I recently featured here). She says, “Yay for yellow and the coming spring!” I agree! Love the bright color and the way this beret is styled in the photos.

Carol Bradley suggested the soy candles by Kenny CoOp. She told me, “I’ve used 8 of their candles… The scents are original, crisp and clean. By “clean” I mean that it’s just right. One small candle fills a small room well without being cloying or overpowering. My favorite is Frog!”

zJayne said this about this handmade stuffed blue gorilla toy made from recycled wool sweaters by sighfoo: “I melt when I click on this listing. The face, I tell you, it speaks to me. Adorable as all get out. (What does that even mean?) In fact, I bought his buddy, spumoni gorilla. May have to have this one too.” I agree, this gorilla is pretty cute, but it’s hard to choose which animal is the cutest out of all the adorable stuffed creatures in sighfoo’s shop!

You guys have been sending me such great eco-friendly and earth inspired finds lately for my Picked By You! series! Here’s a few that have been posted via Facebook and the Etsy forums.

PluckyMermaid picked these earrings made from real orchid leaves by MaD Earth, who make lots of other great jewelry from sustainable materials and natural elements. PluckyMermaid says, “I love this shop! Such cool items, so creative and beautiful!”

Teressa Foster of MisTeeK offered up these handmade gift tags crafted from recycled paper. She says, “I’d like to suggest one of my favorites, runonthesun, who makes price tags out of recycled just about anything cardboard. She hand punches them herself! I love them, and use them on all of my creations.” I love these too; thanks for the tip Teressa!

MarianellaStyle recommended a recycled paper coin purse by Lilith Creations. She says, “This purse is made with paper!! You can find more upcycled products in her shop.” So cute!
Thanks for all of the great finds!

Dieshawn Holmes picked out this art print, entitled My Lovely Tree by artist Paola Zakimi. Dieshawn says, “I purchased this print from her for my daughter; it is very different and it’s hand painted. The art work is awesome and unique.”

Thanks for the tip, Dieshawn! I love Paola’s work, and I also think her dolls are amazing! You can find more of her work in Paola’s Etsy shop.
Dieshawn is pretty talented herself and runs Angelic Soaps and Gifts, a collection of her handcrafted herbal soaps, lotions and more!
