Firstly, lots of lustly lovely [mala]props to Jennine at The Coveted for featuring the talented Hetty Rose - Handmade Shoes on her site. Had it not been for her, I would probably not be in shoe lust (again).
Hetty Rose, aka Henrietta Rose Samuels, is a U.K. shoemaker whose collection is “based on the theory of re-using and re-working vintage materials in a creative and sustainable way, hand making gorgeous, feminine shoes to fit.”
Her collections typically include shoes made of vintage Japanese kimonos, so that they are “relics of a disappearing world, saturated in significance and hidden meanings.” Each pair is custom made to order, though there are several companies in the U.K. who carry her designs.
Currently, I’m most coveting her Kimiko style, which features a leather sole, wooden heel, beautifully detailed butter soft tan leather bow, and delightful little peak-a-boo hole on the toe. The design is beautiful, inventive, individual, and classy all at once. I can’t wait to see what next season’s line is going to look like and where its inspiration will lie.
